School History

Killeenduff National School was first opened in 1866 on lands given by the Conway family. A Mr James Hale of Templeview, up the road from the school, paid for the construction and furnishing of the school building. This building was for the education and benefit of the local children. This was located across the road from the current school.

A new school building was constructed in 1965 on a new site on the opposite side of the road. (This is the location of the current school) This site was donated to the school by a Mr Thomas Lavelle, since deceased, of Killeenduff.

The teachers in the school at the time, Mr and Mrs Kelly, had been living in the residential section of the old schoolhouse. They purchased this old schoolhouse and converted it to a residential dwelling.

In 2005, a field was purchased at the rear of the school to extend the playground of the school.

In 2007, Killeenduff NS was completely extended and refurbished to include a new large senior classroom, a music room and toilets.

In 2019, the Board of Management were successful in obtaining Clar funding to move in the boundary wall and mark out a clear set down and parking area for the safety of all attending Killeenduff NS.
