Covid 19 and school reopening on September 1st

Dear Parents,

I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the sunshine.

I have attached some information documents that will be reviewed, discussed and ratified at our Board of Management meeting next Wednesday evening. Please have a read through these as it gives you an outline of how things will look once our school reopens. If you have any feedback, please feel free to email me at [email protected].

The School logistics plan sets out how we intend to handle our reopening in Killeenduff N.S. on a day to day basis.

The Covid 19 response plan outlines how we will handle reopening in light of Covid 19

We are in a fortunate position in Killeenduff N.S. given the space we have available to us.

Stay safe everyone and feel free to contact me at the email if you have any concerns.

Kind regards

Joanne Campion

Schools re-opening

5. To Parents – Letter from Minister Foley

Dear Parents,

As you are all no doubt aware, the schools are set to re-open for the coming school year. We at Killeenduff N.S. will re open for all pupils on Tuesday, September 1st at 9:20am.

We will be in contact prior to this to give guidance on what our school reopening will look like, for our school setting and circumstances. Every school will have their own procedures for return to school and this will be in line with HSE guidelines.

The safety of our pupils, staff and parents is our main aim and in light of this, please bear with us as we put our plans  in place.

I will put our plan for reopening on this website and will also email to all parents in the coming weeks. Please ensure you have given your email to the school via [email protected]

Please click on the link above to access a letter from the Education Minister, Norma Foley in relation to schools reopening.

If you have any queries, please email the school at [email protected].

Stay safe.

Week: Monday 22nd June to Thursday 25th June

Dear Students and parents,

We are in the final week of the school term. It has been a strange experience for us all since the schools closed on March 12th. Well done to all of you who took on the home schooling and did your best. It was not an easy task and I’m sure came with it’s challenges. Sincere thanks to all of you for engaging with the work.

Under the current circumstances, we did not get to travel on our school tour. I have decided to put up some ideas for virtual tours that you may be interested in. You may have lots of other ideas yourselves but these are just three I enjoyed.

  • Explore Aras an Uachtarain.

https://president.ie/en/explore-visit/interactive-tour

  • Explore different rooms in the Louvre museum in Paris.

https://www.louvre.fr/en/visites-en-ligne

  • Explore the White House in Washington.

If you google virtual tours for kids, a range of suggestions will pop up. Please feel free to browse those of interest to you.

Finally, it’s time for us all to take a break from school for our summer holidays. Take some time away from the computers and devices and enjoy time outdoors. Remember to read as much as you can over the holidays.

Congratulations to our 6th Class who are moving onto Secondary school next term.

News 15th – 19th June 2020

Hello again everyone,

We are in the final few days of school term and are coming to the end of the work. As per  text messages during last week, we are collecting the school book rental books, boxes, library books and any other school items on Monday 15th June from 10am-2pm in the school. Please leave the above items into the school and be mindful of social distancing.

School reports will be sent out this week for all children along with booklists for the senior room. Ms Wright will get the Junior Room books and send out bills in September.

The suggested school work for the senior room is below. Please click on the relevant link for your class group.

Finally, 6th class are departing Killeenduff N.S.  and moving on to secondary school. As part of their send off, they will be invited into the school on Friday 19th June from 11-12pm  to say goodbye. If anyone is free at 12.0opm to have a drive by at the school, it would be great to see you and wave goodbye to our 6th class who like everyone else have missed out on all the end of year activities associated with finishing school.

Have a lovely week.

Regards

Ms Campion
