About Killeenduff National School

Killeenduff National School (officially known as St Farnan’s N.S.) is a two teacher school located just outside Easkey village in Co. Sligo. The single storey building is situated across from The Split Rock. Local Legend has it that this rock – though actually carried to its current location by an Ice Age glacier – was split in two as a result of an argument between two giants. It is said that if one walks through the Split Rock three times, it will close, entombing the person for all time.

Within the school building, which was renovated and extended in 2007, are a junior classroom (Junior Infants – 2nd class), a Senior classroom (3rd class to 6th class), a special education room, a music/extra classroom, an office, a kitchen, toilet facilities and a store room.

The school also has a storage shed, vegetable and flower garden and planted trees outside. There is also a play castle and slide, outdoor play kitchen, sandbox, outdoor classroom, basketball pitch/yard and a large football pitch.
